All Fencingstuff
garments are screen-printed by hand, (with up to 6 colours at choice) at a local established printing centre. The design process is a collaboration between myself and the artists, after which we consult with the fencing coaches, fencers, and parents. Finally we print limited edition runs of T-Shirts with our original designs.
I have been an art dealer for years and have always used my instinct to pick art that just catches my eye.
Mike, the artist with whom I work the most, is very influenced by The Bristol and New York graffiti and art scenes (Banksy, manga), and of course fencing, and has a real talent for creating characters and original canvas paintings.
His recent works strive to blend the movement, energy and tradition of fencing with the colourful raw energy of street art , the contemporary inner city, and popular culture.
We then select which design is best for putting on a T-shirt, work on the finer details of the image/concept, what size, what colour the T-shirts would be, to finally give a range of unique limited edition fencing-inspired products, hand screen-printed, colour by colour on: adult unisex, children's sizes (shorter length) and the new ladies cut T-shirts (fitted, wider neck, shorter length).
As a member of a family of fencing coaches who have been using these printers for 20 years - and some 1994 ones are still being worn to this day - I have combined my hobby, my work, my love of art and design, and my love of fencing into one single entity - Fencingstuff.
